Our transport service

We're here to help!

Do you need transport to get to an appointment with the hospital, doctor, dentist or optician? If so, we can usually help. Transport will cost you 30 pence per mile, the total distance being calculated from the pick-up point to your destination, and back again. Our volunteer drivers make no charge for their time.

This is how to arrange transport

Phone us on 01608 651115 and make your request to the volunteer who answers.

If our volunteers are busy and you reach an answering machine, please leave your name, address and telephone number. Please speak slowly and clearly. We will call you back as soon as we can.

Do try to give us sufficient notice - at least 1 week is ideal. We will do our very best if we have less time, but it is much more difficult to find a driver at very short notice.

The driver will take you from your home to your destination, and will normally wait for up to 2 hours before taking you home again. If you are longer than this the driver is entitled to charge for a duble journey.

Though we give priority to journeys for medical need, we do try to help out with other requests. If you wish to make a journey connected with social need - such as a hairdresser - we will try to assist. Just phone us on the number above - 01608 651115
