NCVHC

Twenty people attended the first meeting of the North Cotswold Voluntary Help Centre Lunch club, which was held at Wyck Rissington Village Hall last month.

Volunteer Annette James, who used to run the Treebus Tearooms in Stow, is coordinating the new club and cooking the meals with fellow volunteer Maria Manna, said: “NCVHC already have lunch clubs in Moreton and Northleach but we are hoping this new club will fill the gap between them.”

“We gave them a good lunch but the main thing is for them to get together and chat because many people are isolated and don’t get to meet people,” said Mrs James, who is hoping they will get double the number next month.

Diners get a home-made, two-course lunch with tea or coffee for £4.50 at the club, which will meet every second Wednesday of the month.

Mrs James has recruited a “lovely team” of volunteers but she added: “We could always do with more to cover holidays and when people are away.”

Anyone interested in attending the lunch club or prepared to volunteer should contact Beth Johnson at NCVHC on 01608 651415.
